    Join our school

    Welcome to our school website

We hope this will give you a flavour of our welcoming, happy, busy school as well as providing information for both parents and pupils.

Around 75 pupils attend St. Mark’s School and enjoy our great facilities. We have a wonderfully stocked library, a well-equipped cookery suite, an IT suite with desktop computers (as well as portable laptops) and three main classrooms. Outside, we are lucky to have extensive grounds including a wonderful outdoor learning wooded area with a purpose built shelter/band stand, a gardening area with seating, a large playing field, a playground area and a trim trail.

We also have a purpose built nursery building and take children from the term that they turn 3yrs of age. The nursery is open Monday – Thursday during term time.

We place high value on creating an atmosphere for learning and inclusion for all children. We work hard to ensure the school ethos fulfils our vision statement of love and respect. Our staff work hard to provide an exciting and challenging curriculum for the children.

If you would like to view the school please contact us to arrange an appointment. We would love to welcome you and show you around!

    How to Apply

Most children join our academy at the normal round, the main intake into school from the start of September in Reception. As a parent, you can apply for a place to the Local Authority.

There are different options for parents of children starting school in Reception. This includes part-time education and deferring or delaying admission until later in the Reception year or, for children with birthdays in the summer term, to the following September. Come and talk to us if you are considering this.

Do come and talk with us if you are interested in a place in a different year group for any reason.

Applications for residents of Cornwall are made between 15 November 2022 and 15 January 2023 for primary schools at www.cornwall.gov.uk/apply-to-start-school-or-transfer-to-junior-secondary-or-ks4-school-in-september-2023

The closing dates are the same nationally.

For questions about your child joining the school or just about the admissions process in general, please don’t hesitate to contact the school direct or contact Cornwall School Admissions: telephone 0300 1234 101 or by email [email protected]

    Part time offer

For reception children of non-compulsory school age

We invite parents to visit so that we can discuss the provision on offer to children in our Reception class, how it is tailored to meet the needs of the youngest children, parent concerns, how their needs would be met as they move through the school and school readiness. Children follow the same Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum in Reception as in Nursery and Childminder settings. The Early Years is delivered in a way where learning involves lots of play and exploration rather than formal learning at tables and can be tailored to meet the needs of the individual child.
